What is Fencha?

RAW

Fencha is pure stoneground tea and herbs capturing the full power of the leaf compared to for example brewed tea

CALM

Fencha is naturally supercharged with GABA – a natural way for you to calm and destress

CREATIVE

Fencha is rich in Theanine, which enhances mood and stimulates calm and clear thinking

ENERGY

Fencha is blended with Ginseng, renowned for naturally increasing energy without any anxiety

Fencha No. 1 uses GABA tea leaves combined with ginseng root and liquorice. GABA has been renowned for centuries for its naturally invigorating properties that don’t rely on sugar or caffeine – now supported by emerging scientific evidence. In fact, GABA is naturally present in our bodies.

Ginseng has long been used in Asia to invigorate energy. It is a natural product that is increasingly gaining recognition in the west. Tap here for a brief introduction from the New York Times to some of the health benefits of ginseng that are being studied.

We sell Fencha in our special Miron Glass containers. They block out light and allow Fencha to stay fresh for a long time. The glass will also serve you well if you want to store herbs or other light-sensitive produce after you’ve finished your Fencha.

Imagine no more afternoon sugar slumps – no more coffee. Let the gentle power of raw tea energise you for whatever the day has in store.

How do we source our tea?

Here at Fencha, we’re very picky when it comes to ingredients. Our tea-master Don travels the world to find the best leaves! His mission to search for the best quality and best farmers never ends. All Fencha tea comes from high-altitude single estates, where Don meets the farmers and tastes the product. Each tea he finds is… Read More »How do we source our tea?

What are the adaptogens in Fencha?

Fencha № 1 contains GABA tea and ginseng, which both have adaptogenic properties. Great! But what exactly are adaptogens? We came across this great video from Tania van Pelt, author of The Ageless Diet, who discusses adaptogens and ginseng clearly.  Take a look at her recipes on her website, they’re fab! What’s special about the Fencha container?

We’ve worked really hard to find the right packaging for Fencha. Unsurprisingly, our main goal was to make sure that Fencha can stay fresh for as long as possible. After a long search, we selected MIRON Violet Glass. Using dark glass to help preservation and minimise the effects of light has been practised since… Read More »What’s special about the Fencha container?

What is theanine’s function in Fencha?

The properties of L-theanine can be summed up as being a relaxing agent without sedation… and is also implicated in reducing the perception of stress and slightly improving attention. Here’s a simple and brief introduction to something… Read More »What is theanine’s function in Fencha?

What is GABA?

Researchers suspect that GABA may boost mood or have a calming, relaxing effect on the nervous system. We make a big deal about the fact that Fencha tea includes GABA oolong tea, but what exactly is GABA? Tap here for a brief and easy introduction to the science behind GABA and learn how it could… Read More »What is GABA?

Our starting ingredients are the finest high-altitude teas and herbs. We work with tea artisans who hand-pick leaves from speciality gardens and semi-wild fields before calling on ancient methods of stone grinding to produce a fine tea powder. Once the tea is carried down the mountains the latest nutraceutical science allows us to draw out further benefits. We work at low temperatures and store the tea in dark Miron Glass so we don’t lose a single gram of the bioactive ingredients.

We love Fencha because it is inspired by ancient tea wisdom backed by modern scientific analysis. The power of tea has long been the focus of study for scientists. Here are some interesting independent studies we consulted while developing Fencha No. 1.
